| Anderson Associates Ltd., was established in 1996 and is located in Stornoway town centre overlooking the inner harbour. 
The Director, Dr. Gordon Anderson, B.Arch(Hons), PhD, MaPS, MAPM, FRIAS, RIBA., has more than 25 years experience of practicing in Stornoway and throughout the Outer Hebrides, both in the private and public sector. Senior office was previously held in the public sector, where he was in charge of 40 technical staff, from all professional technical backgrounds. Sustainability The Practice fully subscribes to the adoption of sustainable development. A number of projects have been carried out incorporating various forms of renewable energy, including ground and air sourced heat pumps, aero-generators, solar and photovoltaic panels, etc. Current design philosophy embraces passivhaus standards together with low and zero carbon construction. | | |

Dr. Anderson is a Member of the Association for Project Safety and the Association of Project Management, both through examination success. He serves as a Nationally Elected Council Member of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and previously as an Elected Council Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects representing the North of Scotland, the largest geographical constituency in the UK. He sat on the RIBA’s Board of Education and Professional Development. He is also a founding member and past Chair of the Western Isles Architects Group. In March 2001 he was elected a Fellow of The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland. | | Awards | This practice has been commended by the Civic Trust for our design of a water treatment works at Geocrab, Harris. We recently won an IAA Award for Architecture, under "placemaking" in the 2008 Regional awards category, for a housing development at MacKay Court, Stornoway. We won a national competition for design of a water treatment works at Ardroil,Uig, Lewis, and won a further national competition for the design and build of an artwork for the "narrows", in Stornoway (see below).
